Who here has auditioned for American Idol?

I am plannin to audition for season 7, and I'm told its hard work just to get to Randy, Paula, and Simon. Whoever has auditioned for the past seasons please tell me how I can make it. Once I get to the 3 main judges I'm sure I can to Hollywood from there, but I need some help on how to get past the other judges- the ones that determine who gets to actually audition for Hollywood.
